I think there was 100 bands on it in total. It's just 30 seconds listing a lot of the biggest spoilers and basically trying to piss a lot of people off. Only problem though was after we'd released it I got a load of mail about how most of these are on a T-shirt or something. This really pissed me off after I spent ages thinking of these and getting them to rhyme. This is a remixed version, the lyrics are :

Frank was a girl in The Wasp Factory.
Tyler Durden : split personality.
Gwyneth's head's in a box and Keanu's The One.
The Planet Of Apes was Earth all along.
Soilent Green is people, Rosebub was his sleigh.
Kevin Spacey was Kyser Soze.
Dill was a man and Bruce Willis was dead.
Hey Luke; Leia's your sister and Darth Vader's your dad.

(sorry...)

* Secondly is Oh Yeah!
This is an 80's movie montage song I've just recorded for a montage scene in our friend's internet sitcom, Chris And Rich Do Sheffield (it's great, wait till July when it's released properly).

* Finally is I Need A Wee!
I caught my friend off guard when she was drunk using my phone to sample her saying she needed a wee! Then I did a remix over the demo of Up All Night. (I'm probably going to get in shit with her for posting this here! ha ha)

-more REAL songs are coming soon! :)Out From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-19953220142559354182009-05-20T12:17:00.000-07:002009-05-20T12:43:05.140-07:00We won best band at Liverpool Sound City!
We won the competition as the best band who applied for Liverpool Sound City 2009! All the mayhem of 6th Street is over by Saturday night. We ended up playing an outside show next to the Austin Art Garage, a small art gallery for local artists full of great work!

http://www.austinartgarage.com/

All the free beers, sunshine and music outdoors made this a great finish to the week! We just chilled out all day because we were playing last. Not only was there great music but some of the artists were painting in front of the stage. We had a pretty chilled day, watching more bands. All I really remember is being completely fucking knackered, enough so that once we got to the Hole In The Wall I just fell asleep in the car till we played.

After we finished playing there was nowhere open to eat so we drove around and found a Taco Cabana, the idea of Mexican food being just what we were up for eating. That's until we got inside and found it to be the most fucking filthy restaurant we'd ever seen! We saw a cook use a dirty, hard brush to scrape all the grease off the grill then put it bristle-down onto the filthy floor! Also there was a constant horrible high-pitched squealing sound from one of the machines in the kitchen. Basically it was the horror-movie equivalent of a fast food 'restaurant' (if you can call it that). Not surprisingly our food was fucking disgusting, we ended up putting our last taco on the hood of our car and watched it shoot off as we drove away.

Just as we'd finished eating the theme from The Omen came on the car radio, it all seemed very fitting. Watch the video :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwB4S3xJEJg

- Andy xoOut From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-45626423040005053772009-03-21T21:15:00.000-07:002009-03-25T22:06:51.549-07:00OFA do USA 4We had a day off on the Friday so used it as an excuse to properly check out the festival. As always we started the day with free beers at the convention centre. This was also the day where we actually got to check out some bands. We saw a lot, including lots of random stuff and some great local bands; some highlights were Good Old War playing with sore throats, Maps and Atlases [we missed their first show because we went to the wrong art gallery which meant we had to miss Cage instead to watch their later show :( ], Beans on Toast, DJ Shadow and the Gallows in a tiny venue with only about 100 people in it, playing right in the middle of the crowd! They can't play shows like that any more in the UK and I was stood right next to Frank for the entire show.

On the way back trying to find a taxi at the quieter end of 6th street Paul and I followed a group of musicians playing the Cantina theme from Star Wars. Then a guy playing a guitar with another guy playing a double bass ran over and shouted 'When The Saints Go Marching In'! They started playing and a guy playing banjo came and joined in as well as some other buskers playing percussion. Then everyone passing by started to join in.

You can watch the whole thing here as an example of pure SXSW madness!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFNu_vNupp4

- Andy xoOut From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-40196989011038865042009-03-20T10:17:00.000-07:002009-03-25T22:11:44.413-07:00OFA do USA 3

Thursday was the first day we actually got to check out the festival properly! Our official showcase wasn't until 10pm that night so after spending the morning downing free beers from the convention center and stocking up on free fags for Tom and Paul (although don't call them 'fags' over here...) we headed out onto the streets and into the sunshine! One of the best things so far is the amount of free food and drinks we've been getting; and cigarettes, the 'other food' according to Bill Hicks. The amount of free cancer sticks we've got now is ridiculous.

Now I know it's been said that there's music EVERYWHERE at SXSW but you really can't understand what that really means until you're here. The streets are constantly filled with loud drums and the chaotic, intermingling of different sounds from each side of every street and all the street corners are filled with musicians. The best thing though is the intimacy, every band, signed or unsigned is treated the same and you'll end up seeing the big bands played to the same size audiences as the smaller ones in the tiniest venues!

The best bands we saw on the Thursday was Death by Stereo and then we got to see Frank Turner before heading over to Wave. We ended up playing on a small as fuck stage but the venue was rammed! Anyway, the smaller the stage the more excuse we have to get off it and get in people's faces.

After the show Paul downed a five-hour energy drink and and Pirate-Paul was unleashed to the world then later at Wendys we saw an argument between a guy and other guy in bearsuit. I'll put the video on soon ha ha ha

- Andy xo
Out From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-29223613593666295362009-03-19T09:32:00.000-07:002009-03-25T22:12:02.399-07:00OFA do USA 2

Wednesday was our first day to play a show and the breakfast was infinitely better in at the Austin hotel! It was the first proper day of the festival so things were just starting to get going. We played our first warm up show at The Side Bar on 7th street during the afternoon which we officially title "our first show in America"!

After spending some time checking out the festival a bit we headed out to The Hole In The Wall where we were playing our evening show. It was great, it's what you'd expect from a real American bar and the beers were all free... Everyone went sick once we started playing. I think our accents are a novelty too! ha ha They liked us so much that we were invited back Saturday night to play again to a packed local crowd!

- Andy xo
Out From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-9508268807511364252009-03-18T07:18:00.000-07:002009-03-18T08:43:42.288-07:00OFA do USA 1

We've been in Texas for a couple of days now and so far we haven't played any gigs but we've been busy. This is our first time in Texas let alone South by Southwest, Sean and I have been to America before (although I've only been to Florida and I don't know if that counts) but Paul and Tom have never even been the US before. Sitting next to Tom on a 10 hour while the boy desperately needs a fag and the guy in front tries his hardest to lean as far back as possible certainly kept me entertained.

I'll write Monday off as entire day of traveling because once we'd actually got a chance to stop we were too tired to do anything else. Tom and I tried to go for a midnight swim but they'd just treated it that morning and neither of us were up for the albino look...

Tuesday morning was the worst breakfast we've ever had. Paul and I put $14 on the table for Tom to finish our eggs and sausage but even he couldn't get it down. After we went to go pick up the amps we're hiring and then ended up in the best practice room ever. All the black lights and neon paint made it feel like we were going to play a game of Quasar!

It was a four drive from Dallas to Austin, (stopping of course at a diner in the middle of fucking nowhere for massive burgers and pancakes, bacon and eggs!). Last night we went to a bar next to the hotel where we drank far too expensive cocktails and they let Paul smoke inside (his highlight of the trip so far ha ha). I'm writing this at the moment just before we actually go into Austin for the first time and play our first of two shows today! I'll get back on here tomorrow morning when I can write about us playing some music instead of just eating and drinking! ha ha

- Andy xo
Out From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-6929437907311466772009-03-14T07:13:00.000-07:002009-03-14T07:16:26.833-07:00Listen to new demos!

We've been recording a load of demos in my bedroom recently. That's about 4 weeks of me actually finding the time to plan the story and make and paint all the sets and wire-frame figures, then a few days of intense stop-frame animation followed by an interesting evening spent in Paul and Sean's kitchen with a camcorder, a desk light, a torch and a strobe light.

Editing it though caused so many problems, not least the tedious amount of time it took to sync everything up with the music. The main problem I had was my crappy version of Premier kept skipping out the light frames in the strobe sections everytime I tried to export them leaving big black sections. After trying it everyway I possibly could I was reduced to using 'print screen' and cropping each individual light frame in photoshop before importing them back into the project.

I had to do this over 400 times...

So considering how this was made once again I couldn't be happier with how 'professional' the final product looks!

PLEASE LEAVE US A COMMENT AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

- Andy xo

THANKS THANKS THANKS TO THE TWO JOHNNYS!

Jon James for helping with all the animation and
Jonny Jones for filming the strobe segments

Watch the high quality flash version here http://www.outfromanimals.com

You can watch it on youtube here : http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TxWmEL3HwDU&fmt=6

Or for possibly better quality (both are pretty compressed unfortunately) on facebook here : http://www.facebook.com/video/?id=6088068683Out From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-63097936771280040082008-10-15T17:12:00.000-07:002009-01-17T17:13:44.070-08:00Filming the video for "No Place Like Home"

We're in the middle of filming a new video for 'No Place Like Home'. the rest of the stuuuudiooo
I'm going to finally let you know how the rest of the recording went. I managed to write blogs for the first two day because I was just sat in the back of the control room while Sean and Paul recorded their parts. Once I actually got around to recording on the third day I didn't stop till it was over! The tracks are online now so you can hear the finished results.<w:worddocument><w:punctuationkerning><w:validateagainstschemas><w:compatibility><w:breakwrappedtables><w:snaptogridincell><w:wraptextwithpunct>
</w:wraptextwithpunct></w:snaptogridincell></w:breakwrappedtables></w:compatibility></w:validateagainstschemas></w:punctuationkerning></w:worddocument>

Recording the guitar was an interesting process. I've only got a cheap valve-state Marshall amp which does the job but heavy distortion always sounds fucking boring to me on record. I wanted something interesting, not just a wall of noise. We ended up hiring a vintage 15 watt amp. It only had one sound but it was something I couldn't have gotten with my amp. Listen to the main riff on 'Helicopter Parents' to hear what I'm on about. We also wired the guitar through the mini moog again for the bridge section on 'No Place Like Home' for the fuzzy build-up sound.

<w:worddocument><w:punctuationkerning><w:validateagainstschemas><w:compatibility><w:breakwrappedtables><w:snaptogridincell><w:wraptextwithpunct>

</w:wraptextwithpunct></w:snaptogridincell></w:breakwrappedtables></w:compatibility></w:validateagainstschemas></w:punctuationkerning></w:worddocument>

We loved the vintage guitar amp so much that we ended up doing loads with it. We wanted all the synth parts to have some more life to them so we blasted them all through it into a stone room and recorded that. We even threw the drum and bass parts through it as well and put them under the clean recordings for a good vibe.

Vocals are vocals to be fair. All I know is it knackers me out recording them and we spent a good two days getting them right; but not too right. One of the main things we wanted to do when we recorded this time was to try and get the same sound on record that we have live.

We mixed down London at Moloko studios for 3 and a half days. Paul and I went down to put our input in but this is the first time when we've been involved in the production process that I've felt I could really trust our producer. We really thought hard about all the sounds and parts to decide what was really needed and what just got in the way. In the end the songs sound great, not too cluttered and everything there is there for a reason.

Have a listen and let us know what you think!

Andy xoOut From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-6477738459466391282008-09-11T14:57:00.000-07:002008-09-12T04:11:12.274-07:00Day 2 in the studio

We've finished the drums now; we've spent a good amount of the day on them. It's really important to get the drums perfect as they're the foundation of the songs. We've also spent the time recording extra drum fills and using them as samples over the main drum parts. Sean's also brought his congas and percussion instruments in for more rhythm and it all sounds real fucking fat. <w:worddocument><w:punctuationkerning><w:validateagainstschemas><w:compatibility><w:breakwrappedtables><w:snaptogridincell><w:wraptextwithpunct>
</w:wraptextwithpunct></w:snaptogridincell></w:breakwrappedtables></w:compatibility></w:validateagainstschemas></w:punctuationkerning></w:worddocument>

<w:worddocument><w:punctuationkerning><w:validateagainstschemas><w:compatibility><w:breakwrappedtables><w:snaptogridincell><w:wraptextwithpunct>

</w:wraptextwithpunct></w:snaptogridincell></w:breakwrappedtables></w:compatibility></w:validateagainstschemas></w:punctuationkerning></w:worddocument>

Paul's recording his bass parts now. As I said the studio we're in belongs to the lead singer of OMD so today we've been getting out a load of synths, modern and vintage and having a play… I still haven't really done anything yet apart from eat loads but I'm not moaning cause once I start doing stuff tomorrow I won't be stopping till the mix is finished. xoOut From Animalshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03099079098068289249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5630119089682009102.post-3487173517925515212008-09-10T12:12:00.001-07:002008-09-10T12:13:35.217-07:00In the studio: Day 1
Day 1 in the studio
Current mood: fucking wired

I'm in the studio at the moment on my laptop so just thought I'd let you know what we're up to! Sean's in the live room now recording drums on No Place Like Home, the boy's a fucking metronome to be fair.
